The Norte Grande de Chile area combines the aridity of the Atacama Desert, the driest of the planet, the life of the coastal line of the Pacific Ocean, the fertility of the valleys, the stunning Andes Mountains and the disturbing silence of the high plateau. This combination of colors and contrasts invite us to experience the ancient ways of traffic in the highlands, from the mountains to the Pacific Ocean when everything was new and the Andes inhabitants used these roads to exchange culture, food and life. The route and the scenery provided by the Chilean crazy geography is going to give us the chance to form an image of the epic struggle of the old Andeans living in the highlands herding at more than 4.000 masl, and living with enormous simplicity and in real contact with motherland, the Pachamama, who is going to help us in this trekking journeys, as a mother helping her children.
Day 1: Transfer In Arica. Visit to The San Miguel de Azapa Museum. A nicely displayed museum with exhibits of the chinchorro culture, and the oldest mummified bodies on earth.

Day 6: we enjoy Putre and visit the surroundings and Jurasi hot springs.
Day 7 to 9: Trekking to the big Caquena wetland, at 4.500 masl. From Putre we start crossing the altiplano among herds of llamas vicuñas and alpacas, protected by the presence of the big mallkus, sacred hills for the aymara. We visit the Lauca National Park, declared patrimony of the humankind by the UNESCO. Our objective is to get to the base of the Payachatas at more than 6.000 masl, in the border with Bolivia.
