Suma Pacha Adventure

SUMA PACHA Adventure was founded in the year 2004. It is a tourist company aimed at generating value to the Andean region through the development of innovating active tourism products. We try to incorporate people, families and/or communities of indigenous origin and let them participate in the services we offer, opening new opportunities for economic development (guides, accommodation, mule drivers).

Ana María Espíndola Blanco, founding partner, comes, on her mother’s side, from a family of Aymara origin from Parinacota. Ana María lived in the Altiplano until she was 10 years old. She has studied Business and Administration and has worked for more than 20 years with indigenous organizations such as agricultural, livestock and handicraft cooperatives. Thanks to her work with a NGO she has been able to visit other places and cultures, such as Israel, England, Spain, France, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador. She was linked for three years to the sector of business and incubation of companies and for two years to the National Cooperation of Indigenous Development. At the moment she is still linked to the indigenous entrepreneurial sector and she is the manager and legal representative of our company.

Eduardo Bascuñán Peñafiel, lived between Africa and Europe for 8 years during his childhood. He is a lover of nature and profound connoisseur of the indigenous cultures of the north of Chile. He has studied anthropology and his work of 10 years linked to the Aymara world has made it possible for him to get to know the geography of the Chilean Altiplano to its farthest corners. At present he is one of the few who perfectly know the large net of ancient mule tracks in the region, used by the ancestors for trade with lamas, mainly those known as the Royal Road Potosí—Arica or Silver Route during the Spanish Colony and the Qhapaq Ñan or Inca Trail. He is Spanish-French bilingual and speaks English at intermediate level. He is a graduate of the NOLS School. Within the company he is currently responsible for marketing and operations.
